Benjani Mwaruwari finally recorded his first league win as coach of Highlanders F.C., ending a run of seven draws with a 3–1 comeback victory over Chicken Inn F.C. in a Bulawayo derby at Barbourfields Stadium.
Chicken Inn started stronger and led 1–0 through Innocent Masiwa after 15 minutes, with Highlanders struggling to convert possession into clear chances before halftime.
The match shifted after the break. Highlanders responded with intensity and equalised early in the second half through Mongameli Tshuma. They then completed the turnaround in the 68th minute when Isaac Ngoma scored to make it 2–1.
Prince Ndlovu sealed the win with a long-range strike, extending the lead to 3–1 and putting the result beyond reach. Chicken Inn offered little response as Highlanders controlled the closing stages.
The victory is seen as a potential turning point for Mwaruwari's side, who had been drawing matches despite encouraging performances, and finally converted dominance into a decisive derby win.
