President Emmerson Mnangagwa has approved the reassignment of several Permanent Secretaries across key government ministries in terms of Section 205(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

The changes affect senior civil service leadership in strategic sectors, signalling a move aimed at strengthening administration and policy implementation.

Under the new arrangements, Simon Masanga has been appointed Permanent Secretary for Environment, Climate and Wildlife, while Thomas Utete Wushe takes up the role of Permanent Secretary for Mines and Mining Development. Tadeous Tafirenyika Chifamba has been reassigned as Permanent Secretary for Industry and Commerce, with Pfungwa Kunaka moving to the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare.

Meanwhile, Obert Jiri has been designated Permanent Secretary for Agriculture Mechanisation and Water Resources Development.

Permanent Secretaries are the most senior administrative officials within government ministries and are responsible for overseeing policy implementation and ensuring the effective running of government departments.

The latest reassignments come as the government continues to refine its administrative structures in line with national development priorities.
