Matabeleland South mourns death of Chief Bakwayi

The Matabeleland South community has been plunged into mourning following the death of Chief Bakwayi of Matobo District Ward 13.
Chief Bakwayi died on Sunday afternoon at the age of 84 following a short illness.
Chairperson of the Provincial Chiefs Council, Chief Tshitaudze, confirmed the traditional leader's passing and conveyed condolences to the people of Matabeleland South and the bereaved family.
The late chief served in Matobo District, an area renowned for its deep cultural heritage, wildlife and historical significance.
Matobo district is home to seven traditional chiefs and remains one of Zimbabwe's most culturally important regions.
Funeral arrangements for Chief Bakwayi are expected to be announced in due course.
