The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has announced the completion of a 15-kilometre road overlay on the Mutare–Masvingo Road, a key national transport corridor linking major economic zones.
In a statement, ZINARA said the upgrade is aimed at improving road quality and strengthening connectivity along one of the country's busiest routes for the movement of people, goods, and services.
The agency said the project is expected to enhance transport efficiency while contributing to broader economic activity.
"Beyond improving connectivity, this project contributes directly to economic development by facilitating trade, increasing access to markets, attracting investment, and supporting productivity across key sectors of the economy," ZINARA said.
The road authority added that reliable transport infrastructure remains central to sustainable growth, noting that continued investment in road maintenance and rehabilitation is critical to unlocking economic opportunities both locally and regionally.
The Mutare - Masvingo corridor is widely regarded as an important link in Zimbabwe's transport network, supporting commercial traffic between the eastern and southern regions of the country.
