Three Victoria Falls City councillors elected under the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have been recalled and removed from office following communication from the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe.

The affected councillors - Mthunzi Mpofu (Ward 9), Nkanyiso Sibindi (Ward 10), and Daniel Moyo (Ward 11) - were officially notified through a letter addressed to the Victoria Falls Town Clerk confirming that they had ceased to be members of the party and therefore vacated their council seats in terms of Section 278 of the Constitution.

The Ministry instructed the local authority to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to begin the process of filling the resulting vacancies.

However, the announcement sparked chaos during a full council meeting on Thursday after councillor Nkanyiso Sibindi disputed the legitimacy of the recall letter, alleging it was fraudulent and refusing to vacate his position.

The situation escalated when Sibindi allegedly became disruptive, damaging council property and threatening officials before police were called to restore order. He was subsequently arrested after officers intervened.

The recalls leave three vacant seats in Victoria Falls City Council, triggering by-election processes in accordance with electoral laws.
