Father jailed 20 years for raping own daughter

A 31‑year‑old Mazowe man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his five‑year‑old daughter.
The convict, whose name is being withheld to protect the minor, was jailed by a Bindura regional magistrate on Friday.
Prosecutor Edward Katsvairo told the court that on 14 April, at Zuvarabuda compound in Mazowe, the father was in his cabin with his three children. He allegedly chased away two of them and remained with the complainant, whom he ordered to remove her clothes.
While he was raping her, one of the children peeped inside and saw the assault taking place. The children then teamed up and entered the cabin while the father was still in the act.
The father chased all the children away and remained alone in the house.
The children who had been chased away went to report the matter to their aunt, who later escorted the victim to the police.
