Two brothers from Nyamandlovu died under unclear circumstances following a violent altercation reportedly triggered by a dispute over a funeral policy pamphlet, police have confirmed.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the incident occurred on June 6 after one of the brothers received a pamphlet containing information on how to register for a funeral policy.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said an argument subsequently erupted when the other brother allegedly accused him of intending to join Satanism.

The disagreement reportedly escalated into violence, with one brother allegedly assaulting the other using a log.

"During the altercation, one brother allegedly struck the other several times on the head with a log," said Commissioner Nyathi.

Following the assault, the injured man was reportedly offered shelter by a friend.

However, he was found dead the following day.

In a further twist, the second brother was also discovered dead on the same date beneath a tree, with bruises visible on his body.

Police have not yet established the exact circumstances surrounding either death.

"Investigations into the circumstances surrounding both deaths are underway," Commissioner Nyathi said.

Authorities have appealed to members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence when disagreements arise.

"Police urge members of the public to resolve disputes amicably and refrain from resorting to violence," Commissioner Nyathi said.

The bodies of the deceased were taken for post-mortem examinations as investigators work to determine the causes of death and establish the events that led to the tragedy.

Police said further details would be released once investigations have been completed.
