A Harare man who allegedly killed his neighbour during a dispute over a ZESA token has been arrested after reportedly spending a week on the run.

Pablo Macdonald was taken into custody on Monday after police tracked him to a property in Hatfield, where he was allegedly hiding in a fowl run.

Macdonald is accused of fatally assaulting his neighbour, Vincent Steblecki, following an altercation that occurred on May 31. The matter was reported at Braeside Police Station under reference number RRB 6861127.

According to allegations, the two men became involved in a heated argument over a ZESA electricity token. During the confrontation, Macdonald allegedly picked up a brick and struck Steblecki on the shoulder and the back of the head.

Steblecki sustained serious injuries and died the following day.

Following the incident, Macdonald allegedly fled the area and remained at large for about a week before detectives located and arrested him.

Police reportedly found him hiding in a fowl run at a residence in Hatfield.

He is currently in police custody and is expected to appear in court to face murder charges.

Meanwhile, Steblecki was laid to rest on Friday as family members, friends and neighbours mourned his death.

Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
