Midnight ox‑drawn accident kills minor

A five‑year‑old boy from Shamva died on the spot when an ox‑drawn scotch cart hit a stump, throwing him off before crushing him.

Charles Chakamba died after being carried in the ox‑drawn cart by Factxan Mutindo.

Mutindo has since been arrested and is facing a charge of culpable homicide.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the incident.

"The fatal accident occurred yesterday around midnight and Mutindo is assisting police with investigations," Mundembe said.

Police urged members of the public to guide animals carefully and avoid overloading scotch carts, warning that negligence often leads to preventable tragedies.
