Young brother faces attempted murder charge over food

A Shamva man is in trouble after allegedly stabbing his elder brother in the abdomen with a knife during a dispute over food.
Collen Derera is assisting police with investigations after he reportedly stabbed his brother, Fidel Derera, yesterday.
Fidel was rushed to Shamva Hospital before being transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, where he is currently battling for his life.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the incident.
Allegations are that Fidel instructed his younger brother to prepare food for him, but Collen refused. A misunderstanding ensued, leading to Collen allegedly picking up a knife and stabbing his brother in the abdomen.
An alert neighbour rushed to the scene and assisted in taking the injured man to hospital.
Police urged members of the public to shun violence and resolve disputes peacefully, warning that impulsive confrontations often lead to serious criminal charges such as attempted murder.
