Macheso in road accident

Sungura music legend Alick Macheso escaped unhurt after being involved in a road accident in the early hours of the morning following a performance at Legends Bar in Juru-Bhora Growth Point, along the Mutoko Road outside Harare.

The accident reportedly occurred as Macheso and members of his entourage were travelling from the venue after a show that attracted a large crowd of fans.

Band management confirmed the incident and moved quickly to assure supporters that the celebrated musician and his team were safe.

Speaking to reporters, Lucky Macheso, one of the band's managers, said there were no injuries resulting from the accident.

"He was involved in an accident, but fortunately there were no injuries reported. Everyone is safe and continuing with planned engagements," said Lucky Macheso.

The circumstances surrounding the accident were not immediately clear, and no further details had been released at the time of publication.

News of the incident sparked concern among fans across Zimbabwe and beyond, given Macheso's status as one of the country's most influential and enduring musical figures.

However, management said the accident would not affect the artist's schedule, with preparations continuing for his upcoming international performance.

Macheso is expected to travel to Beira for a show on June 26, where he will perform alongside his longtime backing group, the Cheso Boys, as part of his ongoing regional tour.

The veteran musician has remained one of Zimbabwe's most sought-after live performers, regularly attracting large audiences both at home and across the region.

Fans have since expressed relief on social media following confirmation that the accident did not result in any injuries and that the musician remains on course for his upcoming engagements.
