Zanu PF holds CAB3 'Thank You' rallies

Zanu PF has rolled out a series of provincial "thank you" rallies across the country to celebrate the enactment of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 (CAB3), with party leaders urging supporters to attend the gatherings.

The rallies follow President Emmerson Mnangagwa's signing of the constitutional amendments into law earlier this month.

Events were held in Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Matabeleland West on Saturday, while Harare, Bulawayo, Midlands, Manicaland and Masvingo are scheduled to host similar rallies on Sunday.

According to party officials, the rallies are intended to celebrate the passage of the constitutional amendments and provide feedback to grassroots party structures.

During the week, provincial leaders held meetings with traditional leaders, village heads, headmen and councillors to mobilise attendance at the rallies. Transport was also arranged to ferry supporters to the various venues.

In Manicaland, provincial commissar Albert Nyakuedzwa confirmed the programme during a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held in Mutare.

"Party leadership has said we should do 'thank you' rallies for CAB3 since everything went on well, and we are going to do the 'thank you' rally on Sunday," said provincial chairperson Tawanda Mukodza.

Zanu PF national commissar Munyaradzi Machacha said the gatherings were part of the party's ongoing engagement with its membership.

"The party is in constant communication with its members and supporters," Machacha said.

"We are holding CAB3 'thank you' rallies in all provinces this weekend and preparations have been made; all party members are advised to attend."

Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 introduces significant changes to Zimbabwe's governance framework and has generated considerable public debate. The amendments are currently the subject of several legal challenges before the Constitutional Court.

Supporters say the changes are intended to strengthen governance and improve the administration of public institutions.

Critics, however, argue that the amendments have far-reaching political implications and have questioned both their substance and the process through which they were enacted.

The legislation continues to attract significant public and political attention as legal challenges proceed through the courts.
