Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has become a full member of the Roman Catholic Church's St Joseph's Guild after graduating from the guild's final stage during an investiture ceremony held in Harare on Sunday.

His admission into the guild marks the completion of a formation process that requires members to undertake religious instruction, attend formation classes, participate in a spiritual retreat, receive the guild's sash and formally commit themselves to serving the Church, caring for their families and living according to the virtues of St Joseph.

As a full member, Dr Chiwenga has pledged to uphold the values associated with St Joseph, including love, humility, responsibility and the protection of family.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Vice President's family, including his wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, daughter Tendai Chiwenga and his sons, who joined him during the investiture.

Guild instructors praised the Vice President for his dedication and commitment throughout the formation programme despite the demands of public office.

Following the completion of the required classes, Dr Chiwenga also participated in a three-day spiritual retreat with fellow parishioners last weekend, a key requirement before graduation into full membership.

One of the final-stage instructors, Mr Cowboy Muteto, said the Vice President had inspired fellow guild members through his commitment and participation in the programme.

Another instructor, Dr Clemence Duri, commended Dr Chiwenga for remaining devoted to the Church while balancing the responsibilities of his office.

The St Joseph's Guild is a Roman Catholic men's association that encourages members to strengthen their faith, support their families and actively serve the Church and their communities by emulating the life and virtues of St Joseph.
