Chivayo recounts ‘priceless’ moment as Kenya’s Ruto allegedly drives him to his helicopter

Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has described what he called one of the most unforgettable moments of his life after attending the engagement celebration of Kenyan President William Ruto’s daughter.


In a social media post, Chivayo said the experience took an unexpected turn after the celebrations when, according to his account, Ruto personally offered to drive him about three kilometres to a helipad where he had left his helicopter. Chivayo said he sat in the front passenger seat while his wife occupied the back seat, with Ruto himself behind the steering wheel.

“Imagine me sitting in the front passenger seat with my wife at the back while the President of the Republic of Kenya, the Head of State himself, was behind the steering wheel personally driving me to the chopper,” Chivayo wrote.

He described the short journey as a deeply emotional moment, saying he was overwhelmed by what he regarded as an extraordinary gesture of humility and kindness from the Kenyan leader. “I sat there overwhelmed with joy, thinking, ‘God, what kind of grace is this?’” he said.

Chivayo, known for his high‑profile lifestyle and interactions with political and business figures, said he had experienced many memorable moments but regarded the drive by Ruto as a first. “Those three kilometres alone will forever remain one of the priceless journeys of my life,” he said.

He attributed the experience to what he described as divine grace and favour, expressing gratitude to Ruto for what he characterised as genuine affection. “Your Excellency, your humility is unmatched and thank you again and always for the genuine love, kindness you have shown me as your own child,” he said.

Chivayo said the brief drive had become a lifetime memory and that he left for his helicopter with what he described as a “full heart”. “TO GOD BE THE GLORY,” he concluded.
