Spaniard unveiled as new Warriors coach

Spanish coach Ramon Catala has been unveiled as the new head coach of Zimbabwe's senior men's national football team, the Warriors.

Catala will be assisted by compatriot Marc Sanchez, while former Dynamos coach Takesure Chiragwi has been appointed as part of the technical team.

The appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Warriors as the national team seeks to rebuild and improve its performances on the international stage.

Catala will work alongside Sanchez and Chiragwi in preparing the Warriors for their upcoming international assignments.

The Warriors have been without a substantive coach since March, when Marian “Mario” Marinica resigned under unclear circumstances.

Marinica had been appointed on a one-year contract, with Magwizi previously explaining that the short-term deal was intended to allow ZIFA to find a coach who could settle in for the long term.

With the AFCON qualifiers approaching, speculation has intensified over who will take charge of the Warriors.

However, Magwizi stopped short of confirming whether ZIFA has already identified Marinica's replacement or whether the association is still considering continuing with Kaitano Tembo, who led the team in May during the Unity Cup on an interim basis.
