4 donkeys, man killed in road accident

A man and four donkeys were killed on Sunday evening when a vehicle collided with a donkey-drawn cart near Manyama Business Centre along the Great Zimbabwe-Nemamwa Road.
Police could not be reached for comment, but eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when a truck travelling towards Masvingo allegedly veered off its lane and struck the cart from behind.
The driver of the donkey-drawn cart and the four donkeys pulling it reportedly died at the scene.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over road safety in rural and peri-urban areas, where donkey-drawn carts remain a common means of transport.
Police have previously urged motorists to exercise caution on rural roads and remain alert for pedestrians, cyclists and animal-drawn carts, particularly in areas where visibility may be poor.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were not immediately clear, and police were yet to issue an official statement.
