Zimra to auction seized goods in Bulawayo

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) is set to auction a wide range of seized and forfeited goods in Bulawayo, including clothing, footwear, handbags, electronics, household items and business equipment.
The auction, being conducted in partnership with ABC Auctions, will allow prospective buyers to view the goods on September 7 from 9am to 3pm at the Zimra Bulawayo Container Depot.
Other lots are being held at the Zimra Gwanda State Warehouse and other Zimra facilities.
According to the auction catalogue, goods will be sold in lots payable in either United States dollars or Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), depending on the specified currency for each lot.
The merchandise includes clothing, footwear, bags, laptops, mobile phones, solar lights, sound equipment, furniture, stationery and assorted household goods.
Some lots contain substantial quantities, including 300 T-shirts, 150 satchels, 116 girls' dresses, 102 pairs of footwear, 95 packs of snuff and 192 containers of shoe polish.
The sale also includes industrial and packaging materials such as barbed wire, mesh wire, strapping coils and plastic packaging, alongside office supplies and other consumer goods.
Among the more unusual items listed are brass ornamental flowerpots and stands, toys, toy cars and toy guns.
Zimra said the composition of the lots could change before the auction.
"Lots are subject to adjustment, withdrawal, or addition at ZIMRA's discretion," the authority said in the auction notice.
Buyers are required to pay in the currency specified for each lot. Where payment is required in US dollars, Zimra said buyers may settle in ZiG in accordance with its regulations.
Successful bidders will be required to pay within 48 hours and collect their purchases within 48 hours of payment, according to ABC Auctions. Storage charges will apply to goods that are not collected within the stipulated period.
Bidders can participate through the ABC Auctions online platform, while deposits may be made where necessary to increase bidding limits.
The auction forms part of Zimra's ongoing disposal of seized, forfeited and other goods held by the authority.
Another auction is scheduled for later this month, according to the auction notice.
