ZIMBABWE Cricket has appointed New Zealand coach Mark Coles as the new head coach of the Zimbabwe Senior Women's National Cricket Team.
Coles' appointment comes ahead of Zimbabwe's five-match T20 International series against South Africa and marks a new chapter for the women's national side.
The experienced coach has an extensive background in women's cricket, having previously worked with Scotland Women and Pakistan Women.
He will be assisted by Rangarirai Manyande, who takes up the role of Assistant Coach (Batting), while Trevor Phiri will serve as Fielding Coach.
The support staff will also include Faith Dube as Strength and Conditioning Coach, Farai Mabasa as Physiotherapist, Keith Kulinga as Analyst and Mary-Anne Musonda as Team Manager.
Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani said Coles was appointed because the board believes he aligns with its vision for the development of cricket in the country.
"Women's cricket is entering an exciting new chapter in Zimbabwe following our admission into the ICC Women's Championship, and it is vital that we have the right people in place to guide that journey," Mukuhlani said.
"Mark Coles brings extensive international coaching and high-performance experience, as well as a strong understanding of the demands of the women's game."
Coles takes charge at a significant stage in the development of Zimbabwe women's cricket following the team's historic debut in the ICC Women's Championship earlier this year under an interim coaching structure.
Zimbabwe opened its Championship campaign with away tours of New Zealand and Pakistan and will continue its four-year programme with tours of India and Bangladesh.
The Lady Chevrons will also host South Africa, the West Indies, Sri Lanka and Ireland as part of the Championship programme.
Coles' immediate task will be to prepare the team for the five-match T20I series against South Africa as Zimbabwe looks to build momentum ahead of its demanding international schedule.
