Mnangagwa's daughter-in-law remanded to October 7 pending trial

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa's daughter-in-law, Kelsea Tafirenyika, and her uncle, Isaac Jessub, who are facing allegations of dealing in drugs, have had their case postponed to October 7 pending trial.

Magistrate Francis Mapfumo postponed the matter to allow the State to complete its investigations.

Tafirenyika and Jessub, who are both on US$1 000 bail, are represented by lawyer Malvern Mapako.

Tafirenyika is separately facing a money-laundering charge in which she was granted US$5 000 bail by the High Court on Wednesday.

According to Detective Niverd Charuma, police received a tip-off before doorstepping Jessub and allegedly found him repackaging suspected drugs into two envelopes inside his car.

Police allegedly recovered sachets containing morphine and pethidine, as well as two 100ml bottles of Bronclear, which were allegedly found under the driver's seat.

During interrogation, Jessub allegedly implicated Tafirenyika, prompting police to raid her home in Greystone Park.

The State alleges that police recovered pethidine, morphine and cannabis from inside the house and a vehicle parked in the yard.

The allegations are yet to be tested in court.
