Mnangagwa appoints new Media, Gender Commissioners

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed eight members to serve on the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC), fulfilling constitutional requirements for the regulation and oversight of the country's media sector.

The appointments were made in terms of Section 248(1)(b) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe and were announced in a statement issued by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya on Saturday.

The newly appointed ZMC members are Susan Makore, Caesar Zvayi, Munyaradzi Hwengwere, Rufaro Ellen Mhandu, Thokozile Chitepo, Merit Thokozile Munzwembiri, Tapiwa Mashakada and Tanaka Muganyi.

The ZMC is a constitutional body mandated to promote, develop and uphold media freedom and independence in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has also appointed four members to the Zimbabwe Gender Commission.

The new commissioners are Cowen Dziva, Thokozile Ruzvidzo, Mildred Mushunje and Tsanangurai Chirau.
