Patriotic Vendors4ED hail Mnangagwa on 84th birthday and Munhumutapa Day

The Patriotic Vendors4ED Zimbabwe has hailed President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a “visionary leader” as he turns 84 on Tuesday, linking his birthday to the inaugural Munhumutapa Day celebrations.


In a statement issued by national chairman Cde Sawu Jere, the organisation said the coincidence of the President’s birthday and the newly declared public holiday offered an opportunity to celebrate Zimbabwe’s history and leadership. “Born on September 15, 1942, His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa celebrates his 84th birthday today, a milestone that coincides beautifully with the inaugural Munhumutapa Day,” it said.

Patriotic Vendors4ED said Munhumutapa Day encouraged Zimbabweans to reflect on the country’s pre‑colonial heritage, particularly the Munhumutapa Empire, which it described as a symbol of unity, trade, wisdom, justice and stewardship. “If Munhumutapa reminds us of our past, Vendors shape where we are going,” the organisation said.

The group credited Mnangagwa’s administration with what it described as significant development across the country, saying Zimbabwe had been transformed through projects implemented in various provinces. “In less than a decade, President Mnangagwa has transformed Zimbabwe beyond recognition. Through unprecedented developmental projects across every province, Zimbabwe is no longer the same,” it said.

The organisation prayed for the President’s continued health, wisdom and strength, describing him as an exceptional leader. “May the Almighty God grant our President many more years of health, wisdom and strength,” it said.

Patriotic Vendors4ED also highlighted Mnangagwa’s role during the liberation struggle, citing pseudonyms he allegedly used to evade Rhodesian security forces, including Trabablas, Ruka Chivende, Skokripiko Rodriguez, Dozzo, Smart Tembo and Dzokerai Mabhunu. It linked the Trabablas identity to the recently commissioned Trabablas Interchange in Harare, describing the project as a symbol of the continued influence of the President’s liberation‑war history on modern Zimbabwe.

The organisation said Munhumutapa Day underscored the importance of servant leadership and integrity. “Munhumutapa Day teaches us the ultimate lesson of leadership, that true leadership is servant leadership, that corruption destroys nations, but integrity builds them. President Mnangagwa embodies that integrity,” it said.

Patriotic Vendors4ED concluded by wishing Mnangagwa a happy birthday and pledging continued support for his leadership and the ruling establishment’s development agenda.
