Radio Zimbabwe's former broadcaster turns prophet, takes ministry across Africa
HARARE - Former soldier, celebrated broadcaster and now prophet, Leonard Katsangu, widely known as "Macamarada", has expanded his ministry beyond Zimbabwe's borders, emerging as one of the country's most recognised radio personalities to transition into church leadership.
Katsangu became a household name during his time at Radio Zimbabwe, where his signature "5-Minute Zimbabwe Shout-Out" captivated listeners across the country.
The unique segment, in which he would mention locations from across Zimbabwe within minutes, earned him widespread acclaim and distinguished him from other broadcasters.
Following what he describes as a divine calling, Prophet Katsangu embarked on a ministry journey that has taken him to several African countries under the banner The Divine Journey Across Africa.
In South Africa, where his voice was already familiar among Zimbabweans in the diaspora, he preached messages centred on peace, unity and family restoration.
His ministry also extended to Kenya, where he shared teachings associated with the Johane Masowe church tradition and ministered to congregations in various communities.
In Tanzania, Prophet Katsangu focused on themes of love, tolerance and spiritual renewal, while in neighbouring Zambia he continued to promote his message of unity and mutual respect, encapsulated in the phrase "Ida Anokuda" (love one another).
Supporters say his transformation from soldier to broadcaster and, ultimately, religious leader reflects a remarkable personal journey that has enabled him to reach audiences across national boundaries with messages of faith, love and reconciliation.
