GURUVE - A 42-year-old man from Guruve died by suicide following a domestic dispute over money, in a case that has prompted police to encourage people facing personal challenges to seek support.
The deceased has been identified as Shungu Masiyambiri of Tananog Farm in Guruve.
Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Lucy Chigwenhese confirmed the incident.
According to police, Masiyambiri allegedly took his own life after a misunderstanding with his wife, Maidei Girafa, over financial matters.
Girafa had reportedly gone to her husband's home for counselling and discussions aimed at resolving the dispute when the tragedy occurred.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Following the incident, police urged members of the public, particularly those facing financial pressures, domestic disputes or other personal challenges, to seek help from trusted individuals and professional support services.
"Men are encouraged to understand that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness," police said.
Authorities also encouraged people to speak openly with family members, friends, community leaders or counsellors when faced with emotional or personal difficulties.
Police further appealed to families and communities to create supportive environments where individuals can discuss their problems without fear of stigma or judgement.
Community members were urged to take signs of emotional distress seriously and provide support to those who may be struggling.
The circumstances surrounding Masiyambiri's death were not immediately clear.
If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm or experiencing a crisis, seek immediate support from a trusted person, healthcare professional, counsellor or local emergency services.
