Parts of Matebeleland North are expected to endure another week of scorching temperatures, with daytime highs forecast to reach 44°C in some areas by Tuesday, October 27.
The latest outlook for October 21 to 27 indicates that hot conditions will persist across several districts, although temperatures are expected to ease over the weekend before rising again early next week.
Binga is forecast to record temperatures of around 39°C on Wednesday, rising to 40°C on Thursday and Friday. The mercury is expected to drop to 36°C on Saturday and 34°C on Sunday before climbing to 42°C on Tuesday.
Tsholotsho is also expected to experience intense heat, with temperatures reaching approximately 40°C on Wednesday and Thursday before easing towards the weekend and rising again early next week.
In Bubi District, temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 30s, while residents of Umguza have been urged to follow updates from the Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe for reliable local forecasts.
Lupane is forecast to record highs of around 39°C on Wednesday, rising to 44°C on Thursday and Friday. After cooler conditions over the weekend, temperatures could reach approximately 42°C on Tuesday.
Hwange National Park is expected to experience temperatures of around 39°C on Wednesday and 40°C on Thursday and Friday before conditions ease over the weekend. Victoria Falls is similarly forecast to record highs of around 39°C on Wednesday, rising to 40°C or above on Thursday and Friday.
The forecast for Hwange National Park should not be interpreted as the specific outlook for Hwange town.
The hot conditions are expected to be accompanied by limited rainfall in many of the areas covered by the forecast, raising concerns about heat-related illnesses and fire risks.
Residents have been advised to drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and seek shade or cooler environments during the hottest parts of the day. Children, older people and outdoor workers are particularly vulnerable to extreme heat.
People should also watch for symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, nausea and unusual weakness, and seek urgent medical attention if severe symptoms develop.
Residents experiencing breathing difficulties or throat irritation have also been advised to limit outdoor activities where air quality is poor.
Authorities and residents are further urged to exercise caution when handling fires, as dry conditions can allow flames to spread rapidly.
The forecast may change, and residents are encouraged to monitor official updates from the Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe for the latest weather advisories.
