Zimbabwe police acquire DM4 tactical rifles

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has acquired new DM4 tactical rifles for operational use, with senior officers undergoing familiarisation training on the newly introduced firearms.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the Officer Commanding Police Bulawayo Province, Commissioner Jasper Chizemo, had led 22 senior officers in a rifle familiarisation exercise at Matopos Battle Camp.

The training focused on the new rifles, with emphasis on safe handling, understanding the equipment and its operational application.

"The ZRP continues to capacitate officers with the requisite skills and knowledge to execute their duties professionally, safely and effectively," Nyathi said.

He said the exercise was designed to strengthen officers' understanding of the new equipment and ensure they could handle it safely and apply it appropriately in the field.

Chizemo also emphasised the importance of ensuring that senior officers were familiar with the equipment used in policing, saying this was essential for operational readiness, efficiency and improved service delivery.

The DM4 is an AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle assembled in South Africa by Diplopoint, a manufacturer and wholesaler of firearms and ammunition.
