Mugabe urges the 'little Bishop' to resign

President Mugabe took a swipe at South Africa's Nobel peace laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu for supporting homosexuality which he says is against African customs. Mugabe and Tutu have always been at each other's necks.
Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF party supporters in Bulawayo during a rally today (Saturday), Mugabe said: "We heard that Bishop Tutu says he wants homosexuality. Bishops who don't understand the Bible should resign and leave the offices for others. We say, we will never allow homosexuality."
Tutu yesterday said he will never worship a "homophobic God" and will rather go to hell.
The retired archbishop was speaking at the launch of a UN-backed campaign in South Africa to promote gay rights.
Same-sex relationships are illegal in more than a third of countries around the world and punishable by death in five countries.
In Africa, homosexual acts are still a crime in 38 countries, according to the rights group Amnesty International.
"I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place," Archbishop Tutu said at the launch of the Free and Equal campaign in Cape Town.
"I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this."
Mugabe once described Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Archbishop Desmond Tutu's description of Zimbabwe as a "bread case" as "nonsense and devilish talk".
"He is an angry, evil and embittered little bishop," Mugabe said in response.
The Nobel peace laureate Desmond Tutu once labeled President Robert Mugabe "Frankenstein" and called for other countries to intervene before the country descended into bloodshed.
While in Sweden in April 200, the 'little bishop' once said "He seems to be wanting to make a cartoon of himself," as war veterans started invading white-owned farms and Mugabe blamed all his country's woes on the West.
"I think he's become increasingly insecure, and because he's insecure he's hitting out," Tutu said.
