Rising reggae star Gerald 'I-Wata' Masara was handed a 24-month sentence by a judge this week after being found guilty of theft. Magistrate Stanford Mambanje sentenced I-Wata to 24 months imprisonment, six of which were suspended for five years on condition he does not commit a similar offence. Ten more months were suspended on condition he restitute US$15 000 - which he was found guilty of stealing from former manager Tavengwa Nyamukondiwa - on or before 31 October. The remaining eight months I-Wata will be performing 315 hours of unpaid work at Harare Girls High School.
