The Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Supa Mandiwanzira says it is a statutory requirement that all stations operating in the country comply with the laws of the land.
Mandiwanzira, who was addressing various players in the media industry who attended a farewell ceremony organised for him at the Zi-FM studios in Newlands, Harare, said the government plans to open up the airwaves soon.
He said the development should see those in the music and arts industry benefitting as they will have more stations to supply their products to as all the stations will be compelled to air 75 percent local content which is a legal requirement.
Mandiwanzira also paid tribute to AB Communications staff members for remaining steadfast even when the going was tough, saying the success achieved by the organisation contributed immensely in building his name which saw him being elevated to the position of Deputy Minister.
Mrs Susan Makore, who has now been left to run the AB Communications, assured Mandiwanzira that the organisation will endeavour to meet all the legal requirements in their operations.
Mandiwanzira was presented with a portrait of President Robert Mugabe, the late vice president, Dr Joshua Nkomo, the late George Silundika and the late Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo as a token of his good work and contribution to the AB Communications group.
