As the MDC-T fight over assets escalates, MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai has directed all the party's provincial assemblies to hide party assets in control of their faction, at the same time seeking repossession for those that they are not.
To this end two vehicles an Isuzu Truck registration and Toyota Hiace whose registration numbers are AAB 1147 and ACI 1638 respectively have been taken for "safe keeping" by the Tsvangirai faction.
"My brother I can confirm that such a directive was given. Here in Midlands South on 24 April 2014 we sent our Isuzu Truck to Harare for safe keeping. The Toyota Hiace you are talking about was taken to Midlands Hotel," said a source from the Tsvangirai faction.
Prior to these developments the Toyota Hiace was in the custody Rodrick Rutsvara, the Midlands South provincial assembly treasurer.
Midlands Hotel is owned by the party's Gweru Mayor Hamutendi Kombayi who is said to be an ally of Tsvangirai.
Relatedly, about 60 activists loyal to Tsvangirai led Kwekwe ward councillor Cayton Masiyatsva and Blessing Chebundo former legislator for Kwekwe Central constituency ran amok beating up members suspected to belong to the Tendai Biti faction during their pro-Tsvangirai march held in Mbizo towship .
The protestors burnt about 200 t-shirts bearing a portrait of legislator Mbizo Constituency Settlement Chikwinya. Chikwinya is being accused of belonging to the Biti faction that is calling for renewal.
