Fireworks at Borrowdale Racecourse

Fireworks are expected at Borrowdale Racecourse for the Zimbabwe Telebet Merit Rated (60) Race to be held this Sunday, November 16.

The race starts at 17:20pm.

For their sweat and bruises the winning connection will collect $4 500 while the other placed runners will collect $1 500, $938 and $562 respectively.

A large field Seventeen horses will stand toe to toe for the winner's prize over a distances of 1 300m.

Snow Call ridden by Collen Storey is the highest rated runner in this competition at (73). This filly trained by Corne Spies has competed 16 times won once and placed four times. According to its record this horse has proved to be strong in sprint distances of 1200m and below.

Now that the distance has been increased it remains to be seen what effect the additional distance will have on its performance.

Looking at statistics Young Diplomat is the second best runner to make it to the finals. He is rated (72) and will be ridden by jockey Juan Paul N'D Merwe.

If there is a runner in this competition trainer Kirk Swanson will look up to for a slice of the cake, this is surely the runner.

Though still green behind the ears in term of experience which is evident in his record of just two runs, one win and one place finish anything can happen when the stall gates open.

Auntumn J ridden by Fanie Chambers from the stable of Corne Spies is another runner in with a chance for either a win or a place finish.

This filly has taken part in twelve races, won once and placed six times. On a good day this runner can run away with the top honours.

The Iron Lady of horse racing, Lisa Harris will look up to her best placed runner, The Sting (62), to spring a big surprise and bulldoze his way to the winner's podium and Expeditious ridden by Denicious Smith.

Trainer Corne Spies has fielded Sword of Truth (Lovemore Haruzivi),  Lillac Lilly (Francois Naude), Gray The Great (Bernard Mwindiwa), Purple Turtle (Nkululeko "Niki" Sibanda) and Gaelic Girl with Ryan Munger on board.

Veteran trainer Kirk Swanson will also bring Montelupo directed by Nobert Takawira, Maridadi ridden by Masharl Bikausaru, Delta Special by Brandon McNaughton and lastly Last Moment directed by Tapiwa Manxusa.

Two horses from the stable of Gokhan Terzi will also be given a chance to show what stuff they are made of that is Sido (Quinton Riddle) and Sparkle With Speed (Kevin Derere).

Amy Bronkhors will look up to Little Venice to defend the pride of the stable with Karl Zechner on board.

Six more races will be held as supporting races on the day.
