MDC unleashes terror on uniformed forces

How dare MDC commit callous murder on a police officer who is doing a constitutional duty? It's regrettable that MDC thugs murdered Inspector Petros Mutedza, a Harare Police Officer-in-Charge for Provincial Reaction Group, in Glen View 3 Shopping Centre on Sunday May 29, 2011. The officer died a miserable death as MDC hooligans attacked him with steel chairs and stones until he laid frozen-unconscious. His surviving counterpart sustained grievous bodily harm.

The pair faced their fate when they were patrolling the area to investigate an illegal meeting which the MDC youthful thugs were holding at the Shopping Centre.

In a separate incident, a member of the Zimbabwe National Army Kingstone Mangwena stationed at One (1) Commando Barracks was attacked, and killed by four suspected Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) activists at Unit L shops, in Chitungwiza at around 0300 hours on May 2, 2011.

This case of cold blood murder is suspected to be a politically motivated violence against members of the defence forces. Eye witnesses to the murder, alleged that during this brutal attack on the deceased soldier, the assailants repeatedly shouted that they wanted to find out if ZANU-PF would resurrect him after this death penalty.

In the recent weeks the party has been on the forefront of violence as it experienced massive intra-party violence, particularly in Masvingo and Bulawayo provinces. The party has degenerated into a front for anarchy and violence. Tsvangirai admittedly announced that his party is torn apart owing to the internal squabbles threatening to split the party once again.

They lack tolerance, an elementary requirement for democracy despite their claim that, they are a party of excellence which is the custodian of democracy.

MDC Youth Assembly declared that they were adopting an eye for eye policy to retaliate against any possible attacks by ZANU-PF. Little did society know that they referred to targeting even apolitical National Institutions like Police and army who execute professional constitutional duties.

Upon end of Bulawayo Congress, Tsvangirai lamented the rampant existence of violence in his party. He pledged an internal inquest as he threatened to name and shame violence perpetrators before expelling them. Nothing materialized to display how his party condones violence.
