A TEENAGER from Greenhill in Bulawayo was arrested after he assaulted his father, accusing him of being a wizard.
Tanaka Hindoga Ndlovu (19), a student at the Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ), apparently has poor people skills. He reportedly locked his father, Bayisana Ndlovu (50), inside the house and beat him several times all over his body with open hands, fists and bare feet.
A wave of sadness crammed the court when Tanaka appeared before a Bulawayo magistrate, Ms Marilyn Mutshina, on physical abuse charges as defined in Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.
Tanaka was remanded out of custody to 4 May.
On 28 April at around 7pm, Tanaka and his father were at their place of residence at Fair Way Greenhill with Tanaka being in the house while Bayisana was outside the house talking to their neighbour, Moses Dube.
It is alleged that when Bayisana went back into the house he found Tanaka speaking to himself.
It is alleged that Tanaka then started insulting his father saying that he was a wizard.
Bayisana then went outside the house to avoid his son, who then locked him outside.
Bayisana reportedly begged Tanaka to unlock the door so that he could enter. He eventually unlocked the door and his father entered the house.
Tanaka then assaulted his father.
Bayisana sustained injuries but did not seek any medical attention, hence no medical report was produced.
Mr Raymond Makaza prosecuted.
