WHAT is it that determines one to be a prophet and a leader of a church?
Is it that one just wakes up one morning and appoints himself or herself a church leader and calls themselves a prophet?
A 20 –year-old Prophet and founder of a church based in Manyame Park, Chitungwiza, has become the talk of town with his prophetic and healing powers that have seen hundreds of congregates including prominent personalities flocking to his church.
Prophet Kudzai Guwa founded the United In Christ Church last year but it is his age coupled with his astounding prophetic healing powers that have generated some interest.
His church service last week attracted female dancehall singer Lady Squander, yester-year comedian Lawrence Simbarashe popularly known as Bonzo after his popular drama series "Bonzo Nechikwata" and "Timmie naBonzo" while Charles Jackson who also featured in "Bonzo neChikwata" and his daughter Theresa Jackson have been members of the same church since its inception on June 7 last year.
Efforts to get a comment from Lady Squander and Bonzo were fruitless as they were both engrossed in the service although Jackson said the fact the two artistes had seen it fit to attend the church service was ample testimony to how Prophet Guwa was making a big impression on people's lives.
"This alone is a clear testimony of how the Prophet is touching people's lives despite his youthful age. He surely has a calling from God and like what the book of Joel says in chapter 2v 28-30, people of all ages shall have the power of prophecy as the words aptly put it, 'I will pour out my spirit to everyone?" Your sons and daughters will proclaim my message?" Your old people will have dreams and your young people will see visions?" And at that time I will pour out my spirit even on servants, both men and women'," Jackson said.
He added, "His preaching is very simple, straightforward and clear."
Asked to describe himself, Apostle Guwa said he was a young man who was still single and dedicated to spreading the word of God.
"I am indeed 20 years old and still very single. Whatever we use in this church be it anointing water or oil is purely from Zimbabwe since I have never been out of the country for anointing oil. Only prayer and wonders allow me to perform all these wonders which come from God and glory be unto Him. Since I am surrounded by elders who also include my parents," he said.
Meanwhile, June 7 will see the church commemorating its first anniversary.
