Tito Mboweni threatens Jonathan Moyo with unspecified action

Former South Africa Reserve Bank governor Tito Mboweni who called Zimbabwe's information minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo "noisy" and "irritating" - and sparked a lively Twitter war, has indicated that he want to 'close this twar with Jonathan Moyo but he must withdraw two statements'. He indicated that if Moyo does not withdraw his statement, things will get ugly.

Mboweni twitted, "I want to close this twar with Jonathan Moyo but he must withdraw two statements. He called me "Uncle Thom" and a "Charlatan". Withdraw Jon."

"If he does not withdraw his irresponsible statements, unbecoming of a minister of a state, this thing will get ugly. Me a charlatan? Xhaa !!

Moyo had a laugh, "Getting rid of the holier than thou mentality of Uncle Toms who insult others but can't stand the same insults back!"

"Those who live in glass houses do not throw stone". An old adage said Moyo.

Moyo said he is eager to engage. "We are eager to engage. If it's open debate well & good but if it's insults we shall trade in kind without fear!"

Yesterday Mboweni alleged that people like Prof ruined a R1 billion package to revive the Zimbabwean economy.

Moyo said allegations that he ruined a R1 billion package were sourced from a drug abuser who needs help.

"This is sourced from a drug abuser who needs help. I wasn't in Govt or Zanu PF at the time!

Emmanuel Chinyoka told Moyo that the whole debacle was uncalled for as he needed to ignore some of the tweets.

Moyo admitted that the whole twar was uncalled for. He wrote, "I agree that it was uncalled for but I'm not sure about ignoring it!"

David L. Chitsiko ‏reminded told people not to abuse the Prof and expect to get away with it. He asked "Why should people abuse the prof and expect to get away with it?"

Yesterday Mboweni ploughed on: "Jonathan Moyo irritates me, writes fairy tales, shops in SA for basic things and talks such rubbish while his people suffer. Prof my foot!"

Moyo also reminded doubters that, "I'm a proud recipient of the highest possible education from one of America's well known & finest universities!"

Tinashe Nyamutsita laughed at Tito, "@tito_mboweni furious fo being called a charlatan nd Uncle tom .bt was happy to call Zim a ranch.

Tapfumanei Muzuwa requested Tito to withdraw his statement that Zimbabwe is a 'ranch'. He said "@tito_mboweni  Zim we r not a "ranch", withdraw ur statement as well, @ProfJNMoyo is right..since wen hv u becom authority ova Zim??

Tshatshu ‏@sibusisozwana twitted that @tito_mboweni threw insults to @ProfJNMoyo but couldn't take them back...
