Sakala takes over as IDBZ chief executive

GOVERNMENT has appointed former African Development Bank vice president, Thomas Zondo Sakala, as the new chief executive officer of the State-owned Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ).
The Minister of Finance and Economic Development announced the appointment of Sakala in today's newspapers and his appointment is with effect from 1st September 2015.
Sakala will succeed Charles Chikaura whose second five year term as chief executive officer expires on 31 August 2015.
Sakala, born on 3 March 1955 is an experienced Zimbabwean economist and developmental banker who holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree and a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.
He worked for AfDB for 31 years but left the bank last year in October after he decided to contest in an election to choose the bank's eighth president.
Sakala, however, failed to land the presidency following his elimination in the fifth round of the poll held in May this year.
