Gukurahundi being re-introduced in Gwanda - Resident

A Gwanda resident and political commentator Bekezela Maduma Fuzwayo has expressed concerns that the Gukurahundi which saw over 20 000 people in Matabeleland and Midlands being killed in the 1980s, is being reintroduced in Gwanda.
"I have never felt unsafe in Gwanda since the declaration of the so called unity accord.
Prior to that indeed non of us felt safe in fear of the then Zanu PF youth brigade in their green militia attire, the notorious soldiers with red heads and the feared CIO," he said.
"It looks like those days are being reintroduced. This other evening I was innocently walking home alone from my darts training and minding my own business. Then suddenly a white Nissan Hard body double cab came at a very high speed going in the direction I was going. I was walking on the right hand side of the road so that I could face traffic coming my way. On hearing the speed at which the vehicle behind me was moving, I naturally looked back to see the speeding vehicle."
"As I turned to look back, the vehicle was within about 50 metres of me and driving on the wrong side of the road coming straight to me. I walled off the road thinking perhaps it was some drunk fellow failing to keep to his side of the road, but as I walked off the road the vehicle kept coming at me."
He said it took the grace of God that he managed to jump further off the road over a little storm water drain.
"The vehicle missed me by probably just less than a metre, missed falling into the drain, swerved back into the road and sped away avoiding a head on collision with another innocent driver on his correct side of the road," he said.
"The driver of the other vehicle who observed everything rightfully concluded as I thought that the driver of that Nissan vehicle wanted to deliberately kill me in a hit and run incident. To the fellows coming after me, I want to declare to them that He that is in me is greater than all of them put together and their weapons shall not prosper."
Fuzwayo said even if they would have succeeded in their plans, the ideas of the revolution we are in would not have died with me.
"The revolution will still succeed with or without all those of us that are being hunted for. Killings or no killings, everything comes to an end and the powers of those you are killing for shall soon come to an end. Your killings and all are just vanity," he said.
