David Mkandawire begging on the streets of South Africa

This is a picture of former Amazulu (Zimbabwe) football player David Mkandawire begging on the streets of Kempton Park in South Africa.

It is understood that when the picture of Mkandawire started circulating, some Zimbabwean players based in South Africa visited him and offered him some clothes, but he refused.

The assessment of those who met him suggests he might be suffering some form of mental illness.

We understand efforts are being made to get his mother in Malawi to come and help take him back. Unfortunately she does not have a passport at the moment and efforts are being made to help her secure the passport and cover travel expenses to South Africa.
