31 Dec 2011 at 08:21hrs | Views
Fellow Zimbabweans, today at midnight the Political year 2011 will fold into history and we will welcome a fresh year 2012.
2011 has been an exciting year in the Zimbabwean political landscape and a sad one at the same.
The Inclusive Government ushered in a window of opportunity for us to judge for ourselves the performance of the 3 Political partners in the GNU.
We are now at a position to judge what each of the Political Parties can Independently do for the People of Zimbabwe if given a chance to rule.
2011 was also a year of political circus that saw Political dictators in rise, ranging from Mutambara refusing to leave the DPM post , Madhuku saying he is not going anywhere and Matombo and Chibhebhe following suit, Morgan Tsvangirai having a 3rd Term and Robert Mugabe being endorsed as life President of ZANU PF.
In the entire history of the Inclusive gorvenment we an increase in political violence with the ZANU PF aligned youths causing terror in Harare to the supporters of the MDC. We at the same time witnessed a counter-violence strategy by MDC-T in what was called Reaction Teams aimed at ZANU PF members.
That being a closed chapter tomorrow we open a fresh page, bearing in mind that we have two hands. With one we hold on to the Promises of God and with the other we reach out to posses the future, we therefore have no hand to hold on to the past but like Steve Bantu Biko of old, march forward with Great courage and determination.
As we begin the new year we would like to urge all young people of Zimbabwe to desist form a culture of violence and to be tolerant to each other celebrating their diversity towards creating a fair and just Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans at home and abroad.
We would like to urge all Zimbabweans to be on vigil as we near the elections which can happen any time. Lets not be found wanting but be ready to bring real change that we believe in.
We would like to urge all Political Parties but especially ZANU PF to be genuine to the spirit and letter of the GPA and sincerely implement the Road towards elections and create a level playing ground for political players
Above all we congratulate all Zimbabweans for coming this far and their perseverance during this crisis. To all Zimbabweans we say: Happy New Year and lets intensify the struggle, it may be dawn yet.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, HAPPY 2012
