In view of recent online media reports also circulated on social network platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and twitter National People's Party (NPP) would like to make it clear that is not based on any official release by the party and therefore not a reflection of what happened, is happening nor the official position of the party.

NPP internal affairs are not run in the media as the article seems to suggest, all official positions are procedurally processed and media department releases official statements where necessary in the public interest and for information dissemination to our members. As diplomatic and internal processes of engagement of contesting and in dispute parties were being conducted, there was no need to issue a statement till the matter is/was internally finalised and party relevant hierarchical bodies briefed. This has since been done and the official position is as follows:

The NPP party was formed with a passionate objective to pursue a democratic course to lead, govern and empower the people of Zimbabwe in accordance with the will of the people and Pan African social democratic ideology which was enshrined right from the founding of Zimbabwe nationalism movements, it's the reason so many men and women fought for our independence and freedom. However it is incumbent that in exercising these freedoms we also exercise the responsibility that comes with them to ensure the objective of freedom is fully realised and that anarchy is not mistaken for freedom. It is in this spirit that top leadership of the party brought together the cadres in dispute to reach an amicable solution and chart the way forward.

The passion and ambition of our Bulawayo cadres to participate and lead the party is a great source of pride for the party and as an organisation we encourage diverse opinion as long as the ultimate goal is progress, which is exactly what we now have. As we build the party it's only natural that diversity sometimes will manifest as robust discourse that is as it should be.

Contrary to the circulating statements on online media and social networks regarding the matter, the Vice President Honourable Dr Mvundura in the capacity of Acting President led a delegation that mediated the disputes between colleagues and a full inclusive solution penned and mutually co-signed by all parties.

We celebrate the milestone of this resolution as the matter was handled not as an imposition from the party hierarchy, but from the common input of the aspirant leadership on the ground.
Bulawayo has a rich history that shaped this country and is a pivotal province with great diversity that truly mirrors the diversity of our country. It is therefore quite heartening to have as a party such desire and ambition to participate and lead the transition of the country from this key province.

While we deal with internal issues internally, we appreciate we are a public institution and a key player in national politics, thus the media will always wish to report on our activities be there internal or public. In that spirit we encourage the members of the media to verify with the party via our information, press and publicity directorate (details below) before publishing. This works well in mutual quid pro quo of information sharing and avoids being purveyors of falsehoods and mischief by some quarters pursuing their own selfish interests or out to tarnish the image of our party.
