ZINARA New Announcement-Daylight Robbery - MDC Press Statement.
The MDC wishes to express its displeasure on the latest developments regarding the motor vehicle license disk purchase extension period arbitrary cut by ZINARA. It is shocking to note that barely a week after announcing the extension ZINARA has decided to instruct the police to arrest those that listened to its instruction on extension.
The MDC treats this as a serious case of daylight robbery against the people of Zimbabwe. It is unacceptable for a government institution to act in a manner that seeks to violate the rights of the public. As a party we find it totally unacceptable for ZINARA to influence a course of action, then turn to criminalize it, at the same time become the judge over the same matter and allow their cousins to enjoy the fruits through fines. This is indeed a travesty of justice.
As a party we will not sit down and watch while the people of Zimbabwe are being defrauded more so by the government institutions. The party has since asked its ministers deployed in government to take-up the issue at that level and bring an end to this criminal behavior. We also wish to make known that we won't hesitate to take the issue to the courts of law to protect the public against this exploitation.
