As MDC-T Johannesburg District, we join our party President Dr. Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, his Deputy Mama Thokozani Khupe and millions of our people in celebrating our movement's 15th anniversary. We celebrate with conceit and splendour, at a time when optimism is crudely constant and comfortably settled at the pinnacle.

Bravery and determination, best describes our movement. We are survivors and always ready to battle it to the wire.

MDC was formed on the 11th of September 1999, to be an alternative to the rogue and inept regime that had ransacked our motherland since Independence in 1980. At the preamble, the founders of this great movement knew very well, that the struggle to end dictatorship was not going to be a horse ride. The dictatorship is a well established system, well resourced and militarized system. Albeit, we have managed to remain relevant and being the only solution to the Zimbawean cause.

WE HAVE SURVIVED:

Death & Torture
The regime embarked on a systematic torture and elimination, as a way to silence dissent and destroy our movement. Fortunately, we surmount over evil. Thousand were butchered and thousands still carries the signatures of State torture. Such brutality and evil acts of violence have failed to deter our spirits, as we have over the years, remained determined and unmoved.

Rigging and Subversion
Vote rigging was used by the regime as a way to weaken our resolve. We witnessed flawed processes being organized and termed elections. Processes characterized by subversion of our people's wills. The intention was to install despair and a belief among our people that elections will never bring the much needed New Zimbabwe. Thereby trivializing our cause.

Subterfuge
Some regional and international leaders, deceived our movement into believing that they were concerned about our struggle, only to disclose their intentions when the damage were already effected. They became guarantors of pacts that were never implemented or followed. The objective was to destroy the zeal for freedom. Hence, the need to celebrate our party's birthday with jubilation.

Splits
Zanu pf devised a well orchestrated system to infiltrate our movement. They managed to implant their informers all over our party structures to as far as the Secretary General position. We have witnessed a Secretary General of the MDC unsuccessfully transforming himself into a village politician in a bid to destroy this movement, only to find himself into the wilderness and oblivion. Another Secretary General, recently, ostensibly fooled the gullible ones into watering a lemon tree, only to harvest rotten oranges.

Amid such plethora of destructive trials by the people's enemy, our movement, 15 years on, remains strong and determined. A cause for celebration.

There were mounting pressures over the years, as a result of frustration, by some quarters for us to transform from being a democratic movement into an armed movement. However, we remained submissive to our founding ideals and values and we will not move an inch or compromise them.

The 15th anniversary coincides as well with entrenchment of our party internal democracy. As we celebrate the birthday of our party, all structures of our movement are currently holding elective congresses, with the main one only a month away.

MDC remains the only hope for millions of our impoverished people, at a time when Zanu pf have failed to resolve our misfortunes.

At a time when our country is being turned into a disney land of the sort or circus land, by the so called first family clowns, the MDC celebrates its existence. At a time when our ancestors are being mocked and insulted by overzealous traditional leaders and a one lot called Martin Dinha, who unashamedly, equates a woman of loose morals, a former typist and a husband "snatcher" to our great ancestor, Nehanda Nyakasikana. The MDC celebrates its 15th birthday.

Long live MDC-T!
Long live the spirit of change!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MDC.
