The Progressive Democrats of Zimbabwe is a political movement registered with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
The party was formed in response to the dire situation the average Zimbabwean is facing and from direct calls from within communities, the general population and Zimbabweans in the Diaspora and leading individuals in the political, professional, and religious and business sectors.
The formation of PDZ is the culmination of many years of suffering and failed attempts to reach out to the elite leadership who have formed a social class that is above its people. In addition, many years of research and discussions have been undertaken to ensure a clear identification and understanding of the citizen's fears, concerns and hopes for a better Zimbabwe are taken into consideration.
The research and discussions undertaken helped to devise and plan a clear strategy and create a road map for a better Zimbabwe with equal opportunities for all and not just the top elite who neither understand the needs of the people they lead nor care for their wellbeing.
Over the last 10 years Zimbabwe has seen a major exodus of citizens looking for greener pastures in nations far and wide, due to the poor management of resources, corruption and bad governance which has seen the nation fall from being one of Africa's wealthiest to being one the world's poorest, currently there are 4 million economic refugees.
PDZ is a movement which seeks to re-engage disgruntled citizens especially the marginalised younger generation who have been side-lined from shaping a brighter future for their country and whose hopes have been shuttered by a government which does not regard or understand their needs.
PDZ is giving every Zimbabwean a platform to question, and demand a government that listens and that promotes the participation of citizens in the running of affairs. PDZ seeks to amplify citizens' concerns and expectations in the run up to the 2018 elections, a change of leadership and government will remedy the years of squalor, injustice and oppression.
The people of Zimbabwe are shouting but no one is listening, PDZ is the voice of reason and the listening ear of the poor and downtrodden.
2018 will be a defining time for every Zimbabwean as it will give its people an opportunity to change their futures and fortunes for the better, by voting for a party that represents their needs.
The Zimbabwean Citizen under PDZ will be an empowered citizen who will have a say in the day to day running of his or her nation and benefit from its vast national resources.
In 1980 we celebrated our independence but under the leadership of ZANU-PF it was from one captivity to another, the people were thrown into turmoil by the same people who fought for the emancipation of the country, the ruling party has over the last 34 years failed a nation that was once full of hope and now it is desolate and overwhelmed with all manner of social ills and challenges. But with PDZ there is hope.
2018 will mark the road to recovery for Zimbabwe where new fresh leadership will transform the fortunes of the nation and its people.
Political will and leadership are vital for reviving the economy and curtailing the scourge of corruption. PDZ is a party of the people, by the people, with the people.
