Galvanized into action by the ominous results of July 31st elections, what started off 12 months ago on 24 October 2013 as a noble idea between three people, has grown steadily into a global phenomenon. Our external team has crystallised while the internal team in Zimbabwe continues to make steady progress.

Guided by our core values of Fairness, Accountability, Inclusiveness and Respect (FAIR), we shall not deviate, not by an inch, from our vision to create a peaceful, democratic and prosperous Zimbabwe based on the principles of genuine freedom, equality and prosperity, no matter what or how long it takes.

With profound sadness, we lost two of our stalwarts during the year; our humble but influential founding chairperson, Wilfred Mhanda (aka Dzinashe Machingura) also affectionately known as Cde Dzino as well as our diligent Treasurer-General, Dr. Burombo Mudumo. Rest in eternal peace great sons of the soil, your contribution and sacrifice punctuated with unparalleled humility, were not in vain.

Informed by your collective wisdom, we shall remain focused on our mission to rally progressive minds within and without Zimbabwe in finding a lasting solution to our protracted crisis brought upon us by ZANU PF's decades of monumental failure.

Since inception of Zimbabweans United for Democracy (ZUNDE), we have received a lot of advice and criticism from all corners of the world. We sincerely thank those who spare their precious time to criticise or advise us as that will make us a better movement going forward. However, given the diversity of talent in our team, we want to emphasize that we have the ability to discern between bad and good advice. Those who wish to see us sleep-walking onto a minefield so that we can fail, shall be terribly disappointed. We have designed a clear roadmap to our goal, we shall follow our compass religiously, without being rushed or swayed.

On this special occasion of our first anniversary, we take great pride in the encouragement we continue to receive from those yearning for a new Zimbabwe. We hereby make the commitment to keep our doors open to all genuine players within and without Zimbabwe wishing to partner us on this noble journey. Now is the season for unity of purpose not with but against the oppressor.

The fascinating drama in ZANU PF where Grace Mugabe is perfectly playing "confusionist", demonstrates, more than ever before, that an implosion is imminent and time for a new dispensation is finally upon us.  Come along, let us redefine our destiny together. At ZUNDE, we refuse to accept that there is no other way. The only limit shall be our imagination. The people's aspirations for a prosperous Zimbabwe will be our moral compass tomorrow and beyond. Starting from the first quarter of 2015, we will be rolling out key strategic initiatives to take forward this idea whose time has certainly come.

Team ZUNDE strongly believes that a solution is now on the horizon. It is only a matter of when, not if. Nevertheless, this will take some sacrifice. As we enter into our second year, we make the next crucial step in taking ZUNDE to the grassroots. Our focus is now on rallying the people, especially the youth, to take heed of the call to national duty because the future belongs to them. Zimbabwe deserves better. It is our motherland, united we can do it.
