The Zimbabwe African Women's Union (ZAWU) and The ZAPU Youth Front (YF) would like to invite you to their revolutionary event in Manchester at the end of the month. This is going to be the first event of its type since ZAPU's successful revival. ZAPU Women's wing and The Youth wing will be embarking on a street toyi toyi on Saturday the 28th of February from 12 – 4pm in at the Picadilly Gardens in Greater Manchester to highlight the plight of Zimbabweans but at the same time showcasing the resilience against unbearable adversity.

Honourable comrades, fellow Zimbabweans join us on our street rally on the 28th February and let us begin the revolutionary campaign to return to our father land. It is not a secret that regardless of the situation and social status, we are all in self-imposed exile and we have all been driven from our land because of the current political situation. It doesn't matter what your situation may have been, it was the political situation that led to your decision to be in this foreign land with these cold weather conditions.

It is rare to see English people leave their own land for other countries, and even when they do, they do not leave in droves like Zimbabweans do as they have left in their millions to foreign countries. It is the political status of the country which compels millions of able bodied people to leave the country. Whilst we, the ordinary citizens suffer, the super-rich and the so called "royal class" loot every cent in the country's coffers and carry on plundering our resources. The land that the bourgeoisie drive our poor people out of is ours.  The 300 000 children who drop out of school every year are ours. The police who take bribes on the streets due to poor working conditions and those who try to earn an honest living are ours; they don't belong to ZANU PF. The army is ours, those are our fathers, our brothers, and they too need to be liberated. The old women who are beaten into submission and threatened by the youth brigade are our mothers; they too need to be protected.

ZAWU and The YF have decided to embark on a street Toyi Toyi, with revolutionary lectures, entertainment & speeches. Let us honour the memory of our liberation heroes, and honour the future of our youth and our children.  We cannot tolerate the treatment meted out on us by the government any longer.

We are the change we have been waiting for. Come along, and join us on our revolutionary event. Food, berets, t-shirts and ZAPU merchandise will be available.

Location: Picadilly Gardens, Manchester, M1 1RG.  12 – 4pm

Dress code: Strictly yellow for all members, ZAPU regalia will be sold at the event

ZAWU & YF staff will handle questions regarding their respective wings.
