Maleme ranch belongs to the Cunninghams who have over the years converted the ranch to an industry that employs, feeds and empowers the community in that part of Matobo district. Many lives are solely dependant on the ranch yet one selfish individual from the furthest corner of the country is allowed to invade it. Though white, the Cunninghams have served the district to satisfaction as evidenced by the community members refusing to allow Mashingaidze to unlawfully occupy their land.

As Matebeleland People in Diaspora (M.P.D) we say no to black colonialism. No one should be allowed to use his political influence to do as he please. Maleme belongs to Matobo disctict and by such no one from another province should be allowed to invade their land. Political affilliation and colour of the skin should not be used as a tool to oppress people. It now becomes clear the regime of Mugabe is trying all it can to further its mission of complete extinction and deprivation of the tribes of Matebeleland of their birth rights and possessions.

Mashingaidze might be an ally of those in power, but we strongly condemn the abuse of power and salute the stance taken by the people of Maleme to stand tall and defend what is rightfully theirs. Not only does it violate human rights, it is a clear indication that the ruling regime takes Matabeleland and her people for granted, where they going to allow that to happen in Mashonaland?

M.P.D calls upon the people of Maleme and Matebeleland as a whole to unite in their quest to seek justice and rid any form of oppression and black colonisation. Sooner or later as Matebeleland people, we shall hold a regional mass demonstration against the evil treatment that the Zimbabwean Mugabe government exposes us to.
