The Zimbabwe Consulate Magazine Launched!

Friday 13 March saw the official launch of the Zim Consulate Tribune Magazine at the Zimbabwean Embassy in Pretoria.

The newly appointed Zimbabwean ambassador to South Africa, Ambassador Isaac Moyo graciously opened The Zimbabwe House to guests for the launch of The Zim Consulate Tribune Magazine. The Ambassador began his speech by saying "welcome to Zimbabwe, this is home." He further expressed his gratitude to the Zimbabweans living in South Africa who contributed to the socio-economic life of the country using basic assets they were equipped with while living in Zimbabwe such as education, the spirit of industry and hard work; "this is what we share with our fellow South African brothers and sisters.

The event program was facilitated by Zimbabwe Achievers Awards SA CEO, Richard Moyo. Guests included agents from leading South African entities with a vested interest in Zimbabwe, advertisers, media as well as the office of Zimbabwe Tourism based in Bedfordview.  Also in the delegates who attended the afternoon cocktail event were representatives from The Mail & Guardian Africa, Air Zimbabwe, Kings & Queens Funeral Parlor, The African Professional Magazine, and Western Union among others.

The Consular General B.H Mukonoweshuro called the magazine project "Reach-Out" and said this magazine is aimed at taking the Consulate to the People of Zimbabwe living within the South African borders and disseminating critical information to them regarding The Zimbabwean Consulate and its mandate to serve them.

MoneyGram International, one of the largest money transfer services in the world, threw its weight behind the magazine launch as the proud sponsor. The proceedings began with the announcement of the competition winners of The MoneyGram Rand to Rand service which was launched in November 2014. Zimbabwean nationals are now able to send Rands home at a flat 8% fee and have their recipient receive in Rands. The competition was partner sponsored by The Rainbow Tourism Group and FlyAfrica Airline. 2 lucky winners walked away with flights to Victoria Falls and 2 nights' bed & breakfast stay at The A'Zambezi River Lodge.

Said MoneyGram International Regional Director, South and East Africa Mr. Anton Luttig, "we are honored to be a part of the launch of the Zim Consulate Tribune Magazine. We love the Zimbabwean community and have worked well with them over the years". The 2 winners, Mr. Lovemore Sithole and Mr. Brian Muzapi were both thrilled at winning the grand prizes.





Following the presentation of prizes the program led to the official unveiling of The Zim Consulate Tribune. Ushers handed out copies to all seated delegates and the Consular General, Mr. B.H. Mukonoweshuro detailed the 3 functions of the magazine as being to encompass the following crucial information; firstly, Consular Services offered to Zimbabwean nationals in South Africa; secondly to carry information on investment opportunities in Zimbabwe and lastly to Market Zimbabwe as a Tourist destination to Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa.
