16 November 2015 - The MDC condemns in strongest terms the terrorist attacks carried out by an Islamic fundamentalist group in Paris, France over the weekend, where about 129 innocent civilians were killed and scores others were left seriously injured.
As MDC we condemn, and denounce any form of extremism, terrorism and hatred and reject totally the notion that terrorist atrocity and indiscriminate violence can ever be justified for any mission. The world cannot be held at ransom by evil, bloodthirsty maniacs purporting to be killing innocent people in the name of religion.
This attack adds to the tragically long list of countries which have suffered under these barbaric and senseless terrorist attacks across the globe. The people of Kenya faced similar violence and sorrow earlier this year, when 147 people were killed after Islamist gun men launched an attack at Garissa University. In January this year hundreds of innocent and unarmed civilians were killed by the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram. And just last month, a Russian airplane crashed, killing 224 passengers in a suspected terrorist attack by ISIS. Perpetrators of these heinous crimes should be brought to book as a matter of urgency and justice realized for the victims, their families and loved ones. Clearly, more concerted efforts are required the world over to fight the terrorism plague which is threatening to wipe out humanity.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the people of France as well as the thousands of people across the world who have lost their families and loved ones to terrorist attacks.
