02 Dec 2015 at 17:01hrs | Views
Today a new trajectory and convergence was witnessed on the signing of NERA . The coming together of opposition political parties is a harbinger of greater things to come as we inch towards 2018.
There is purpose and determination to level the political field and create an environment of fairness and indisputable electoral process.
That an election is a process and not an event is very clear and unambiguos to us as political leaders.
Today we set aside our political differences and gathered in spirit of being Zimbabwean and Zimbabweans at heart. We owe it to our supporters to set aside whimsical ,personal and petty differences for the good of Zimbabwe.
The document is clear on the role of security forces, chiefs and an independent Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. What is historic about this development is the unity and resolve among us as leaders to converge and provide leadership to Zimbabwe.
The signing of NERA restores the confidence in Zimbabweans and create a platform for further discourse on positive guidelines and values which guarantees a free and fair vote alongside and in tandem with SADC guidelines and OAU provisions governing elections .
Lets build strong institutions and not partisan instruments or individuals.
We indeed call upon Zimbabweans to be patient at this moment and walk with us in these reforms that are not partisan but for the betterment of Zimbabwe.
