The MRP National Executive Committee sat on Sunday in Bulawayo and resolved some issues concerning the Mthwakazi Kingship.

Party's spokesperson Mbonisi Gumbo said MRP as the people's revolutionary party guided by the spirit of ubuntu and respect of our values and tradition stand in support of the Matabeleland Chiefs and the Khumalo family in choosing a heir to the Mthwakazi throne.

"Previously, as MRP we had taken a position that we will not take sides on who should be the King as we had agreed that we as the people's party we will leave everything to the Khumalos to put their house in order," said Gumbo.

'MRP will remain guided by the Chiefs and the Khumalo family and we will remain loyal to that. This past week we managed as we normal do, to get a briefing from the parties concerned including the Paramount Chief Nhlanhla Ndiweni at his Royal residence. He authorised us to tell our members and the rest of uMthwakazi that the Chiefs have done their home work and the heir to the throne has been found with a backing of over two thirds of Mthwakazi chiefs."

He said the announcement will be made not later than August 2017.

"The chief assured us that they have a well thought plan and very soon the King of Matabeleland Kingdom will be announced to the public, where all Chiefs will pay allegiance. Over the past weeks we have been pressured by the public to make an official announcement on our position regarding the Kingship and today its our great honor to announce that the King will come from the Khumalo family as our culture demands,"he said.

"The Chiefs, as well as other cultural groups who spoke to us, assured us that everything is now in order, and they now have the support of SADC countries, as well as Britain, EU and Australia among other Nations. It would have been a suicidal decision for MRP to go against the Chiefs since we are a people's party, guided by respect of our culture and tradition."

He said the Chiefs have promised to make an announcement that will change the political situation in the country and will pave way for a Free and prosperous Matabeleland.

"Chief Nhlanhla Ndiweni said he has an obligation on his shoulders to fulfil his father's vision, as we all know uMdladla was advocating for a Free Matabeleland or better still Federalism and wants to see that vision fulfilled," he said.

"We are hopeful that the installation of "Ubayede" in Mthwakazi will be a very important step towards the Restoration of Mthwakazi state."
