The love and passion of voting landed an 82-year-old village head in trouble after he failed to deal with the trauma living without exercising his right to vote in the last harmonised elections.
As a result, the devoted voter Bridi Moyo (82), a village heàd in Madlambudzi under Chief Masendu allegedly struck Lamison Ncube of the same village with a knobkerrie accusing him of striking off his name from the voters roll.
He appeared before Plumtree magistrate's court Mr Joshua Nembaware facing assult charges on Friday.
The state led by Arnold Mudekunye heard that on 23 August 2023, Moyo failed to find his name on the voters and accused the complainant of removing his name before striking him with a knobkerrie on the knees.
He pleaded guilty and was given wholly suspended sentence of 12 months on condition he does not commit a similar offence in the next 5years.
